Despite pandemic, faculty-mentored research continues with virtual student symposium

When the COVID-19 pandemic arrived in March, forcing the rapid shift to remote teaching and learning for the rest of the Spring 2020 semester, ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏ꿉۪s Student Center for Science Engagement had just put out a call to the faculty for its Undergraduate Summer Research and Professional Training Program.

ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø reports gains in graduate enrollment, freshman retention

ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø increased its graduate student enrollment by more than 10 percent and recorded the best fall-to-fall retention of first-time, full-time freshmen in a decade, according to the official Fall 2020 enrollment numbers.

U.S. Department of Education awards $3 million grant to ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø

The U.S. Department of Education has awarded ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø a five-year, $3 million Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program grant that will help the University increase the number of students who complete STEM majors.

Illinois Board of Higher Education awards competitive GEER grant to ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø

The Illinois Board of Higher Education (IBHE) has awarded ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø a $456,286 grant to help target equity in its recruitment and retention efforts. This federal CARES Act funding is one of nine Governor’s Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund competitive grants totaling $3 million that IBHE has awarded to public colleges and universities.
