Choosing a Major/Career - Career Counseling

Planning your future career is an exciting and important step. At NEIU, Career Development is here to help you make confident, informed decisions about your major and career path.

Career counseling gives you the tools to better understand yourself — your strengths, talents, interests, values, and cultural perspectives — and how they shape your career journey. Together, we’ll explore questions like:

  • What unique strengths and talents will you bring to your career?
  • What motivates you and aligns with your work values?
  • How does your personality influence your career decision-making?

With a Career Advisor, you will:

  • Explore & Assess – Identify your strengths, interests, and skills.
  • Discover Options – Research career paths and opportunities that fit you.
  • Evaluate & Focus – Narrow your choices and set clear goals.
  • Decide & Commit – Make informed choices about your major and career direction.
  • Prepare & Plan – Build experience through internships and opportunities that prepare you for the future.
