�ڰ������� President Gloria J. Gibson announced on Aug. 31 that the University has created a Vaccine Incentive Program (VIP) for employees and students. 

�ڰ������� will offer qualified Afghan refugees who settle in Chicago or nearby areas the opportunity to attend �ڰ������� through University-sponsored discretionary waivers that will cover the cost of tuition and fees for 12 credit hours in the current academic year. The initiative will be available on a first-come, first-served basis for up to 15 continuing and prospective students. 

Dr. Shireen Roshanravan was named �ڰ�������’s first Executive Director of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion and began serving the University in this capacity in July 2021.  

Professor of Political Science Sangmin Bae has been honored with �ڰ�������’s 2021 Bernard J. Brommel Distinguished Research Professor award.

Michael Abreu may be only a junior at �ڰ�������, but he has already accomplished a great feat. Abreu, a Computer Science major, was recently awarded the presented by the Illinois Technology Foundation.

�ڰ������� is one of five Illinois schools to partner in the establishment of the Metropolitan Chicago Data-science Corps (MCDC) to help meet the data science needs of the Chicago metropolitan area.

�ڰ�������, in collaboration with numerous local and national supporting organizations, will host the Japanese American Redress Conference on Sept. 22-23, 2021, exactly 40 years after the Commission on the Wartime Relocation and Internment of Civilians (CWRIC) hearings were held on �ڰ�������'s Main Campus.
