�ڰ�������’s Board of Trustees unanimously elected J. Todd Phillips as its new chair and Anna Meresidis as its secretary during their meeting held on Feb. 15, 2024.

At 190 years old, Jonathan the Seychelles giant tortoise recently made for being the “oldest living land animal in the world.” Although anecdotal evidence like this exists that some species of turtles and other ectotherms—or “cold-blooded” animals—live a long time, evidence is spotty and mostly focused on animals living in zoos or a few individuals living in the wild. Now, an international team of 114 scientists, led by �ڰ������� and , reports the most comprehensive study of aging and longevity to date comprising data collected in the wild from 107 populations of 77 species of reptiles and amphibians worldwide. 

For the seventh consecutive year, �ڰ������� has received a Tree Campus USA recognition from the Arbor Day Foundation.

�ڰ������� is once again partnering with Google as it joins the Grow with Google HSI Career Readiness Program. �ڰ������� is the only four-year institution in the state of Illinois to partner with Google on this initiative, which will help Latinx students at 35 Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSIs) prepare for the workforce through digital skills training and career workshops.
