Understanding Tuition and Fees
NEIU offers guaranteed tuition for undergraduate students pursuing their first bachelor’s degree. Your tuition rates remain the same for four consecutive academic years. While this guarantee does not apply to fees, it is open to full-time, part-time or transfer students.
What Is the Cost of Attendance?
Cost of attendance (COA) estimates one year's college expenses, including tuition, fees and living costs. While it’s not your actual bill, your COA helps you plan how to fund your education.
Direct Costs Versus Indirect Costs
As a student, your direct costs are billed directly from NEIU. These include tuition and fees. If you plan to live on campus in The Nest, your housing expenses are also considered direct costs.
Your indirect costs are anticipated expenses like transportation, personal needs, books and supplies. If you plan to live off campus, living expenses become indirect costs.

NEIU's Financial Aid Office calculates annual Cost of Attendance budgets, factoring in both billable and indirect costs. These estimates reflect minimum full-time expenses for nine-month academic terms.
