Tenure-Track Position, Assistant Professor, Philosophy
The Philosophy Department of ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø invites applications for a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor rank, beginning August 2026. We seek a specialist in normative and applied ethics with competencies in non-Western philosophy (broadly construed), philosophy of law, and/or philosophy of race. The Philosophy Department promotes excellence in both teaching and research and has a curriculum that reflects those priorities. We have a thriving major, with a diverse and engaged student body.
The successful applicant is expected to teach a 3/3 load, including general education courses such as introduction to philosophy, ethics, business ethics, and argument and reasoning, as well as upper-level courses in normative and applied ethics (e.g., medical ethics, environmental ethics, and technology ethics) and advanced seminar courses in their area of specialization. Successful candidates will also contribute to the Ethics Bowl Program, advise students, develop new courses, work with other departments to develop interdisciplinary curricula, participate in the vibrant intellectual life of our department, and carry out research in their field. Salary range is 65,000 - 68,000 for a nine-month contract. The candidate who is selected is required to work in person, on campus at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø. This position may require teaching in person at multiple on-site ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø campuses.
