Biography
Danny Cortez is a proud first-generation college graduate, born and raised in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood with roots from Acapulco, Guerrero. As the son of immigrant parents, he learned early on the importance of perseverance, comunidad (community), and education as a tool for transformation. Danny earned his Master of Arts in Higher Education with a concentration in ENgaging Latinx Communities for Education (ENLACE) from ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø, where he now serves as an advocator for student success, equity, and belonging. With years of experience mentoring students at NEIU El Centro, he continues to build bridges like PUENTES, an academic opportunity and cultural identity for Spanish speakers.
Guided by the belief that leadership means servir con el corazón (serve with all your heart), Danny’s approach is rooted in collaboration, joy, and visibility. He’s passionate about creating culturally relevant programs that empower students to see themselves as future professionals and scholars. Danny brings the energy that reminds everyone that education isn’t just about reaching the finish line, it’s about walking juntos (together) toward a brighter, more inclusive future.
