This weekend, �ڰ������� will host its first series of virtual Commencement ceremonies!

The Fall 2020 semester wraps up next week, but �ڰ������� is not slowing down.

�ڰ������� Associate Professor of Justice Studies and Women's, Gender and Sexuality Studies Adam M. Messinger has published his second book, “Transgender Intimate Partner Violence: A Comprehensive Introduction.” The book is published by New York University Press.

Though our Thanksgiving holiday may look and feel a little different, �ڰ������� has much to be thankful for this year.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture National Institute of Food and Agriculture (USDA-NIFA) has awarded �ڰ������� a $275,000 grant to support its agriculture science engagement at Hispanic-Serving Institutions (HSI). �ڰ������� is one of 26 institutions in the United States—and the only institution in Illinois—to receive this grant. It is �ڰ�������’s fourth USDA-NIFA grant and its fifth USDA grant overall.

�ڰ������� has received a grant to digitize the archives of alumnus and former Illinois Congressman Luis Gutiérrez. The University also received a grant for students from the Consulate General of Mexico.

The Consulate General of Mexico has awarded a $9,000 IME Becas grant to �ڰ�������. This is the fifth year �ڰ������� has received the grant.

The Illinois State Historical Records Advisory Board Historical Records Grant Program has awarded �ڰ������� a $5,000 grant to digitize the archives of former Illinois Congressman and �ڰ������� alumnus Luis Gutiérrez. The award is the highest amount a project can receive.

Stage Center Theatre has launched a virtual theatre festival for social justice featuring works submitted by the NEIU community. Submissions are still being accepted for the festival as well as the Undocumented Cookbook and COVID-19 student archives.

�ڰ������� has been awarded a grant from the Governor's Emergency Education Relief (GEER) Fund to aid recruitment and retention efforts.
