For the seventh year in a row, U.S. News & World Report has ranked ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø No. 1 for students who graduate with the least amount of debt among Midwest regional universities. NEIU also ranked highly in three other categories. This week, ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø also announced that the U.S. Department of Education has awarded the University a five-year, $3 million Developing Hispanic-Serving Institutions Program grant. ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø’s College of Arts and Sciences has changed the name of its Art department to Art + Design and the department, major and minor of Women’s and Gender Studies to Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies beginning in the Fall 2020 semester.

ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø senior Natasha Overton has a master plan. She will graduate in 2014 with her heart in arts education and her mind on the future:

2015 – Enter a master’s degree program

2018 – Graduate with a master’s degree

2020 – Return to ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø to teach and start a local, comprehensive arts program
