Steven Allan Riess is a Bernard Brommel Research Professor, Emeritus, wrote several books, including Horse Racing the Chicago Way: Gambling, Politics, and Organized Crime, 1837-1911 (Syracuse: Syracuse University Press, 2022) [Cited by : First of 78 Books by UChicago Faculty, Staff, and Alumni], The Sport of Kings and the Kings of Crime: Horse Racing, Politics, and Crime in New York, 1865-1913 (Syracuse: Syracuse University Press, 2011), Touching Base: Professional Baseball and American Culture in the Progressive Era, Rev. 2nd ed.
