Leadership, Equity and Inquiry, Ed.D.

About the Leadership, Equity and Inquiry Doctoral Program

The Leadership, Equity and Inquiry, Ed.D. is housed in the Daniel L. Goodwin College of Education. The program: 

  • Prepares scholar-practitioners on a path to examine the dynamics of leadership, organizational change and management
  • Engages deeply with the processes of policy formation and analysis
  • Examines the critical role of economics and finance in shaping urban development and educational equity
  • Reflects on key problems of practice, and the social and structural elements that undergird these via an interdisciplinary study of Chicago, its communities and institutions.  

Dr. Kamau RashidIn 2021, Dr. Kamau Rashid became the Founding Director of the Ed.D. in Leadership, Equity and Inquiry at ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø. He earned a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, an M.A. in Inner City Studies from ºÚ°µ±¬ÁÏÍø and a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Dr. Rashid served on the faculty of National Louis University from 2009-2021 and taught classes in the social foundations of education and public policy, as well as advised doctoral students. In 2015 and 2016, he was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Education, Winneba in Ghana. He is active in a number of initiatives related to food sovereignty and community/youth development.
